TUCSON--Arizona soccer will honor its five seniors this weekend as the season wraps with matches against Oregon and Oregon State. The Wildcats will take on Oregon on Friday, November 6 at 7pm and Oregon State on Sunday, November 8 at 11am at Murphey Field at Mulchay Stadium. Sunday's match will honor Arizona's five senior players, Analisa Marquez, Macke Mutz, Jasmine Namdar, Devon Wharf, and Samantha Drees.
Last weekend, the Cats (4-13-1, 1-6-0) traveled to the Bay Area to take on California and Stanford. Against California, the Cats lost 2-0, with red shirt senior Devon Wharf grabbing six saves on the night. Sophomore Renae Cuellar led Arizona with two shots for the night.
Sunday, Arizona lost 4-0 to No. 1 Stanford. Wharf shared the net with sophomore Ashley Jett, and the pair combined for eleven saves for the match.
About the Ducks: Last weekend, Oregon hosted the Washington schools, and lost to Washington 3-1, and Washington State 2-0. Oregon is currently 8-9-1 overall, and 0-7 in conference play.
About the Beavers: Oregon State finished off their home schedule last weekend with a 0-1 loss to Washington State Friday, and a 2-1 win over Washington on Sunday, their senior day. The Beavers will go up against Arizona State Friday, November 6 before traveling to Tucson for Sunday's match.
All about the freshmen and sophomores: The Wildcat freshman and sophomores outnumber the juniors and seniors 12-8, with Alex Smith, Brittany Berger, Amy Steiner, Kristin Strother, Renae Cuellar, Karli Hedlund, Itzel Rodriguez, Jessica Culver, Ariel Boulicault, Kristin Magyar, Kat Leibbrandt, and Susan Melendez participating in the seasons' opening matches.
