TUCSON, Ariz.- The No.10-ranked Arizona volleyball team upset fifth-ranked Pepperdine in four games in the final match of the Sheraton Four Points Pepperdine Classic on Saturday. Game scores of the match were 22-30, 30-23, 30-28, 30-28. Arizona, which defeated Eastern Washington earlier on Saturday, improved to 2-1 on the season with the win.
Arizona's once troublesome passing game was solid for the second straight match as the Wildcats matched Saturday's earlier total of just five service reception errors against Eastern Washington in Saturday night's match with the Waves.
Sophomore Kim Glass rounded out an impressive first weekend of play with her first 20-kill match of the season. She led all players for the third straight match with 20 kills on 52 swings and 12 errors. Classmate Bre Ladd added a season-high 17 kills on a career-best .652 hitting. Freshman setter Stephanie Butkus dished out 58 assists and posted seven digs in her third career start.
Arizona will open its home schedule next weekend at the Four Points University Plaza Wildcat Classic in McKale Center. Arizona will take on San Diego State in the opening game of the classic on Thursday at 10 am.
