Head Coach Joan Bonvicini -
"I was definitely pleased with our intensity. We started off strong and played some really good defense that was dominating."

"I think that defensively at the end of the first half we had a let down. NAU is a good perimeter shooting team. They have a lot of young players but really played poised out there today."

"I think the three Dee-Dee (Wheeler) hit at the end of the first half was a confidence booster for our team. CoCoa (Sanford) really stepped it up for us today as well. I think the difference maker in the game though was the play of Aimee (Grzyb)."

"Polkey (Shawntinice Polk) played well in the paint and was really dominating at times. I felt that our defense made our offense. I was pleased with how we played, but we need to work on our rebounding more."

"Our players were poised and played smart. When we needed someone to step up off the bench, someone did and that is a good sign."

On CoCoa Sanford -
"Cocoa is a great complement player for Polkey. Last year Cocoa was a bench player for us who would come off the bench and provide a spark for our team. Now she is in a different role but still provides that spark."

"Our shooting was definitely a good sign. We missed some easy lay ups that should have increased our shooting percentage. I think our shooting shows that we are taking good shots and hitting them."

"Our philosophy is to inside and out. We put in some new things today with the trapping and defensive line-ups. I think this was a good first game for us."

NAU Head Coach Laurie Kelly -
"I felt that Arizona would come out and trap us. We have some very young players and we played tentative. Our team wasn't aggressive enough. We made some adjustments and tried some different line ups to change that."

"I feel that Arizona really exploded our weaknesses. They did a good job taking it to us."

"I think that we can play with anybody. We come out and try to put together 40 minutes of good basketball."

"This was Vanessa's (Campillo) homecoming. I think she had a lot of pressure playing in front of her home crowd and didn't meet her expectations."

"Alyssa (Wahl) played great for us. You can see why she is our go-to-player in the post right now."

On the play of Shawntinice Polk
"Polk changes the game that Arizona plays. They are a completely different team with her in the line up."

"When she isn't in the game for Arizona they are still a good team, but they are a great team with her out there."

"Very few teams will be able to defend her. You try to focus your game plan around her. If Arizona's supporting cast can do their jobs and hit their shots, they can beat anyone. But if they don't hit their shots, they will struggle."

Sophomore Center Shawntinice Polk -
"We knew we wanted to get in their shorts in the beginning of the game. We didn't do that against Athletes In Action. We knew we had to play strong defense and stick to the game plan."

"We had lots of tips, a lot of steals, and had open passing lanes. We just had a lot of press."

Sophomore Forward CoCoa Sanford -
"I had a good game. I don't think I will have many games like this."

"Our game plan was to go inside out. I knew I had to commit; it's something I'm not used to doing."

"I wasn't planning on starting this year. I've really been working hard for the team. During the off-season I was working the post. I was doing move after move. I was working with the UA track team. I played pickup with the girls. I was also lifting over the summer. Lifting is so important. I know I have to be physically strong to compete with these girls. That's all I want to do. As long as were winning I'm happy."

Junior Guard Dee-Dee Wheeler -
"We knew their freshmen would be nervous coming in. Coming in, we were aware that Vanessa (Campillo) wanted to come out and play hard since she's from Tucson. I think we rattled her and their freshmen."

"We started getting offense early on in the first half and then we became lazy and that showed."

Senior Guard Aimee Gryzb -
"I've been shooting good. I knew I needed to shoot when I was open. When they're going in, why not shoot?"

"The officiating made the game feel like an away game. The fouls made it feel like they had an advantage over us."

Freshman Guard Natalie Metz -
"I made a couple of mistakes in the beginning and had a couple of turnovers. We had a couple of mental mistakes. We need to learn from our mistakes and get better.'

Freshman Forward Alyssa Wahl -
"I was very nervous to play, but I came out ready to play. I've been practicing the defense I played on Polk. I did what I was told to do on offense; I knew I needed to look to shoot."
