TUCSON, Ariz. - Fall Training Camp Notes...

... The University of Arizona football team practiced in full pads Tuesday afternoon for the squad's only practice of the day. Arizona has three more days of training camp left on the schedule, with two-a-days on Wednesday and Thursday. The Wildcats will scrimmage Thursday night in Arizona Stadium, but the scrimmage is closed to the public. The team will close camp with an afternoon practice Friday in the UA practice facility...

... The Wildcats did some situational work with full lines for the majority of today's session. "We had a little situation scrimmage today, and it was a good chance for us to get a lot of stuff done and get it on tape. We really need this kind of contact because it is going to get us ready for a real game situation," said head coach John Mackovic following Tuesday's session...

Mackovic had some praise for the offense after the 11th day of camp. "Jason (Johnson) was pretty sharp today, and the offensive line picked up some of the blitzes a lot better than yesterday. I was satisfied with our power running on the goal line, and it is good to see that Clarence Farmer seems to be developing more as a power runner..."

... Mackovic, however, was disappointed with the offense for giving up a few turnovers during the situation scrimmage. "We have to learn that we cannot turn the ball over under any circumstances, but I will give credit to the defense for hitting and stripping and making the plays," he said...

... "We have put in a lot of good work, especially in the last couple of days. We've gone 11 days without a break, and now we are starting to see the wear of two-a-days. But, we have to continue working and putting together our plan," Mackovic added...

... Redshirt freshman quarterback Matt Belshe had knee surgery today and is expected to be out four weeks. Freshman wide receiver Mike Jefferson had to miss today's scheduled surgery because he ate breakfast but will undergo knee surgery Friday...
