Arizona Interim Head Coach Russ Pennell
"Tonight was an exciting game. We played really well. There were a few mistakes, but we were able to overcome them. We didn't panic when Jordan (Hill) fouled out. Everyone else stepped up and took ownership. Whenever you make 41 free throws you know you're going to have a good night."
"We wanted to try to push the ball, and we can do that when we put more players in. We took a lot of good shots tonight."
On No. 21 Kyle Fogg
"Kyle really stepped up tonight. He was more willing to handle the ball against pressure and he is getting better at free throws. He doesn't play like he is a freshman anymore. He is very easy to coach and he is good at taking suggestions. Kyle doesn't try to do things that he can't do."
"Jordan (Hill) played well tonight, in spite of his foul trouble. He really gave us a lot of energy during the first half. Nic (Wise) is being more aggressive on offense, and Chase (Budinger) is finally finding his rhythm. He isn't hesitating when he takes his shots. He looked very comfortable tonight."
Arizona Player Quotes
Junior Forward Chase Budinger
"It was a huge win for us. They're the first place team in the Pac 10 and we're pretty far down there. It gives us a lot of confidence and shows that we can play with anyone in the conference."
On the 41 points from the line:
"It was key for us. We've been getting extra free throws in lately."
On Jordan Hill fouling out:
"Once Jordan went out, Nic and I knew that we had to step for the team, and that's exactly what we did."
On Zane Johnson's three point attempt when Arizona was trying to run out the clock:
"When he locked and loaded for that shot I just about had a heart attack. I just looked up and said, `Uh oh.' Once it hit the net and went in it was a relief. They were on a little run, they kept cutting the lead to 5, 4. It turned out to be a huge shot."
"Why not use these two wins as confidence. We played in two close games and won them both. We can use these as motivation and confidence."
On the small scuffle he was involved in for the second straight game:
"Tonight I was just sticking up for `Mello (Jamelle Horne). He got fouled pretty hard and I know Brockman, so I just went over to talk to him, but his team took it the wrong way."
Freshman Guard Kyle Fogg
Do you feel better out there now compared to six weeks ago?
"Yeah, I think so. My confidence is getting higher and my teammates are trusting me more. They tell me to shoot more and that's what I do. Whenever I get an open shot I put it up and try to knock it down. I know there's going to be pressure on you all the time so I know what to expect. It's a battle and you have to come ready to play. Now I'm ready. In the beginning I was nervous every game, but now I'm confident."
