</B>The second-ranked <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Arizona</st1:place></st1:State> softball team rode the bat and arm of pitcher Taryne Mowatt to a 3-0 victory over No. 14 Baylor on Friday night at Getterman Stadium.</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Mowatt (11-3) had what was arguably her best outing of the year, allowing only one hit and one walk in seven innings of shutout work.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>She struck out 15 of the 23 Lady Bear hitters she faced and allowed only one BU runner to reach scoring position.</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">The shutout was Mowatt&rsquo;s third on the year and 15<SUP>th</SUP> of her career.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Perhaps more impressive, tonight&rsquo;s game marks the first time the Baylor offense has been shutout in 62 games, dating back to March 21, 2006.</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><o:p> </o:p></B></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">The Wildcat offense dealt BU freshman Kirsten Shortridge (8-1) her first career loss and touched her up for three runs on five hits and five walks.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>For the first time since its 2006 season opener ? a stretch of 84 games ? no Wildcat hitter struck out.</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><o:p> </o:p></B></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">Arizona</st1:State></st1:place> got on the board with a pair of runs in the first inning off of three hits and a pair of walks.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Caitlin Lowe led off the game with a bunt single and moved to second on a Chelsie Mesa single to right.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>One out later, Jenae Leles fell behind in the count 0-2, but battled back to draw a base on balls to load the bases.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Mowatt then helped her own cause with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Lowe and advancing <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Mesa</st1:place></st1:City> to third.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>After Callista Balko walked to fill the sacks again for the Cats, Sam Banister drove <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Mesa</st1:City></st1:place> home with a single to left for UA&rsquo;s second run of the game.</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">In the circle, Mowatt set the tone early, as she struck out the side in the Baylor half of the first inning. </P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">In the second, the Wildcats would load the bases in the second inning with an Adrienne Acton single and a pair of walks, but failed to push any runners across the plate ?
