WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Arizona punter Keenyn Crier has been named the Oct. 15 Pac-10 Speical Teams Player of the Week, commissioner Tom Hansen announced on Monday. The weekly award is the first in Crier's brief UA career and the first for a Wildcat player this season.
Crier, a redshirt freshman,?posted the best day of punting in his young Arizona career against the Trojans. He booted seven punts for a 336 combined yards (48.0 avg), including an 83-yarder - the longest in the Pac-10 this season, the second-longest in school history and the longest at UA since 1930. He placed five of his seven kicks inside the USC 11-yard-line, including one on the USC 4, one on the 2 and one on the 1-yard-line (the 83 yarder). The effort against the Trojans boosted his Pac-10-leading average to 44.4 yards per punt for the year, a figure that ranks him 12th nationally.
Crier and the Wildcats will welcome in Stanford this Saturday for a 4 p.m. tilt at Arizona Stadium
