The Arizona volleyball team dropped its final regular season contest, 3-2, to host Washington State and now will wait to see its postseason fate in Sunday's tournament selection show.
The Wildcats (16-14, 6-12) dropped the match's first two sets and couldn't string together three straight set wins, losing to the Cougars (10-19, 3-15) 25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 21-25 and 15-10.
The loss continued Arizona's road woes, finishing the conference slate 0-9 on the road, compared to 6-3 at home.
Sophomore Tiffany Owens strung together another great night, leading the team with a season-high 26 kills, while adding 14 digs for her tenth double-double of the season and third straight. Classmate Paige Weber also earned her second double-double in as many nights with 63 assists and 13 digs.
The Cougars were coming off a 3-1 win over Arizona State Friday night and earned their third conference win after outhitting the Wildcats .333 - .279.
Washington State had three different players reach double digits in kills, led by Jackie Albright.
For Arizona, sophomore Stephanie Snow also had a big match, recording 10 kills with a .389 hitting percentage, while adding six blocks.
With a 16-14 overall record, the Wildcats are eligible for postseason, but it is up to the tournament selection committee, while Arizona's season continues in 2008. The Wildcats find out their postseason fate Sunday night at 8:30. The selection show program will be televised on ESPNU.
