Freshman Mary Yarrison and senior Josh Anderson completed their three-day competition at the 2004 FINA World Cup Diving Trials successfully finishing in fifth and sixth-place respectively.

Mary Yarrison partnered up with freshman Cassidy Krug from Stanford University for the three-meter synchronized dive, which took place on Thursday, Jan. 15. The freshman duo posted a final score of 497.85 to earn fifth place in the competition. According to Head coach Michele Mitchell-Rocha, "The girls worked really well together, being the youngest divers in the competition they showed a lot of the older divers that they are the next wave of success."

Josh Anderson qualified for individual competition on the ten-meter platform finishing with 801.30 points for sixth place. Coach Mitchell-Rocha explains that "Anderson has been suffering from a wrist injury witch may have put his performance in jeopardy. He wasn't diving to his best ability. However, I am proud of him for getting up on the diving platform and competing." In individual competition, only the top two finalists qualify for the World Cup Diving Championships, which will be held in Athens, Greece at the end of February.

The Wildcats will continue their season when they travel to Berkeley, Calif., to face the Bears on Jan. 23 at 1 p.m.
