WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ?- The University of Arizona women’s soccer team had two student-athletes named Academic All-Pac-10. Junior Althea Jones earned second team accolades while junior Jennifer Klein was an honorable mention selection. To be eligible for selection to the team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
Jones played in all 21 matches for the Wildcats this season and contributed one goal and one assist on the season, including the lone goal in the Wildcats’ 1-0 victory over then-No. 5 UCLA. She is a general biology major. Her only other Pac-10 All-Academic honor came last season when she was given honorable mention.
Klein served as a tri-captain of the 2004 squad and started 18 of 20 games for the Wildcats. She had three goals and four assists on the season, including the lone goal in Arizona’s 1-0 victory over Colorado College. Her area of study is general biology. This is her first Pac-10 All-Academic honor.
