Freshman garners honorable mention accolades


TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona women’s golfer Adriana Zwanck was named an honorable mention All-American by Goflweek magazine, the publication announced Wednesday.


Zwanck, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, was one of 50 student-athletes to receive recognition in Golfweek’s listing of postseason honors.  She posted a 74.60 stroke average through 25 rounds played in 2005-06.  Zwanck collected three top-20 finishes in eight starts this season, including back-to-back victories at the Mountain View Intercollegiate and the Ping/ASU Invitational.


Also an honorable mention all-Pac-10 pick, Zwanck had each of her 25 rounds played count towards the team total.  Her six-under 210 total, which won the Ping/ASU Invitational, was Arizona’s lowest tournament total of the season.


Zwanck is the 47th Arizona women’s golfer to earn All-America accolades since 1979.  She helped Arizona finish in 17th place at the 2006 NCAA Championships.
