TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona women's golf team stands tied for eighth with Tennessee, Tuesday after its second day of competition at their home tournament the Wildcat Invitational at Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.

The Wildcats shot a 309 to trail second-round leader Vanderbilt by 41 strokes after the Commodores shot a 289 in second round action. UCLA (582) and Ohio State (584) occupy second and third places, respectively. While California (591) and UNLV (601) finish out the top-five.

"We're playing the golf course like we've never seen it before. We're hitting it in the desert and getting big numbers and you got to avoid the big numbers and we're not. We're making triples and doubles and not making enough birdies. We are not getting it done. We're a good team; we will just get better, [we're] just struggling right now. We'll go out tomorrow and see what happens." Arizona head coach Greg Allen said after Tuesday's round.

Individually, Arizona sophomore Erica Blasberg is tied for 11th place with UCLA's Charlotte Maayorkas, after shooting a second round 73 (+2). Sophomore Lani Elston is tied for 31st after shooting 12-over-par 154. Sophomore Cassandra Kirkland is tied in 40th after carding a 14-over-par 156. Freshman Rachel Gavin is tied for 57th place after shooting 9-over-par 80 in round two. While sophomore Whitney Welch shot a 37-over-par 179 to stand in 78th place.

Also competing for Arizona, as an individual is Junior Mar Garcia who is in 19th place after carding 9-over-par 151. Junior Miriam Kraschinski is tied for 24th place after shooting 2-over-par 73 in round two. While sophomore Katie Christy shot a 35-over-par 177 to tie in 74th place.

The Wildcats will tee off in Wednesday's final round beginning at 8:00 a.m. MST shotgun start. The tournament is being played at Arizona National Golf Club, a par 71, 6,238-yard layout.
