SAN DIEGO--The No. 22-ranked Arizona football team completed its week of preparations here with a final day of glad-handing Tuesday and turned its collective eye toward its match with No. 20 Nebraska in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Wednesday night.
UA coaches and players met with ESPN television and radio production teams, coach Mike Stoops met dozens of reporters in the bowl pre-game news conference and both teams attended the U.S. Bank Kickoff Luncheon to complete the festive portion of the trip.
Arizona (8-4) and Nebraska (9-4) now are set to tee it up for the 5 p.m. kickoff (PST) in Qualcomm Stadium.
After a week of this-is-swell, we're-thrilled-to-be-here, what-a-city stuff, it was clear both squads are eager to put on the uniforms and get the action going.
Stoops will send his team to a movie tonight, get the players in bed by 10:30 p.m. and then it's up and into a game-day routine along with a brief walk-through at Qualcomm to familiarize the squad with the field surface and sight lines.
