SANTA BARBARA, CA--Arizona sophomore Jessica Culver scored the first of two Wildcat goals in Friday night's 2-1 win over UC Santa Barbara.

In the 36th minute, junior Leila Amini hit a corner kick that was headed into the goal by Culver for the first of two points.

The game-winning goal came early in the second half by sophomore Renae Cuellar, assisted by senior Jasmine Namdar. This goal is Cuellar's sixth of the season.

On the night, Arizona, now 3-5-1, only took four shots, compared to Santa Barbara's eleven, but redshirt senior Devon Wharf took care of the net with two saves to Santa Barbara's, also 3-5-1, none.

"Tonight was a tough match, and it definitely was an important win for us." Said head coach Dan Tobias, "It'll give us the momentum we need to finish strong through the rest of the weekend. We talked about winning the game within the first ten to fifteen minutes of the second half, and Jasmine's pass to Renae did just that. I'm also proud of Jessica for getting her first goal in a collegiate game. Really, I'm proud of the whole group for tonight's effort."

Up next, the Wildcats head to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly, Sunday at noon.
