TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona football coach John Mackovic and staff have signed two junior college players to national letters of intent for the 2002 season.

Offensive lineman Matt Lamatsch (Claflin, Kan.) and cornerback Luis Nunez (Chula Vista, Calif.) have applied for spring semester admission and are expected to participate in spring practice.

Lamatsch is from Butler County Community College in El Dorado, Kan., and Nunez comes to Arizona from Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Calif.

"We have a handful of junior college players who have not made a decision, but we are working closely with those players," said head coach John Mackovic. "The players we signed today will give us immediate depth and experience, which is going to prove beneficial to our team. I am pleased that they can join us at mid-year, which will allow them to participate in spring practice and learn the system."
