LOS ANGELES – University of Arizona freshman diver Samantha Pickens placed second in the 1-meter springboard event at the Trojan Diving Invitational Saturday.  Also placing among the top eight for UA was women’s diver Ainsley Oliver and the men’s trio of Andres Guerra, Sean Clark and David Austin.

 

Pickens, a freshman out of Murrysville, Pa., was runner-up in both the prelims and finals as she posted a final score of 271.30 in the 1-meter springboard.  Oliver had a cumulative score of 237.65 for eighth in the 1-meter.

 

Other Wildcats in action Saturday included Ashley Herrera and Alexa Wollach who finished 15th and 18th, respectively in the preliminary round.

 

Guerra, who had a final round score of 273.60 in the 3-meter springboard, was fourth overall followed by Clark and Austin. Clark had a score of 249.50 while Austin recorded a 241.00.

 

Next up for the Arizona divers is the Wildcat Diving Invitational at the Michael Kasser Pool Nov. 19-21.
