Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller
"I think we had a lot of individual players do really well tonight. Jamelle (Horne) had 20 points, eight rebounds, Nic (Wise) had 24 points, and was ten of eleven for free throws. As a team, we did really well on defense, and to see us holding them to only 36 percent in field goals is a really big statistic for us. We held a really good offensive team that can really score."
"Kyle (Fogg) had a really solid game tonight, and it was good to see that from the start. It's easy to forget that he is very young and will get better as the season goes on. I also saw good things from our bench tonight. D.J. Shumpert had some minutes, as did Alex Jacobson. Even MoMo (Jones), who didn't have a lot of stats tonight, played some really good defense."
"We need to work on rebounding as a team. We weren't able to push the score, and get stops. A lot of the 15 rebounds we gave them came deep in the stretch. We have to learn to do this, or we'll have another loss like against UNLV. We had opportunities to make stops, but we didn't."
"I'm glad we were able to bounce back from the quick turnaround against Oklahoma. It wasn't easy, but we managed to do it. Our next game against San Diego State is going to be another really quick turnaround, and it'll be a challenge for us, but we are going to have to overcome it."
On defending No. 5 Olu Ashaolu and No. 22 Kyle Gibson
"Ashaolu is a great offensive rebounder, and I think that as a team, we defended him really well. He is a very strong player, especially with averaging a double-double going into this game. Also, it didn't seem like Gibson had 25 points tonight. He's the type of player that it doesn't seem like he's hit a lot of baskets, but he's racking up points, and could get even more if we hadn't covered him.
Arizona Player Quotes
Junior Forward Jamelle Horne
"We won. That's all it's about right now. We were coming off three tough losses, one bad one that we forgot about and put behind us. It felt good getting back home and getting a win. It's huge for our young guys. Louisiana Tech came in here a 7-1 ball club. They have a bunch of guys with a lot of experience, they're a tough team and they came in here playing hard right away. We kept our composure, though, and pulled out the win."
Sophomore Guard Kyle Fogg
"I think we wore them out with our subs. Coach told us to keep running. It helps when you get a stop on the defensive end, and then can get it up the floor for the easy baskets in transition that you saw."
Freshman Forward Derrick Williams
"Just one big play sparks the rest of the team. A big dunk gets the guys going and the crowd too. Jamelle had a couple of tip dunks, and I had a few big dunks."
