TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf team sent select members of the squad to play at the Hilton Garden Inn Mountain Shootout, in Flagstaff, Ariz., this week.
Freshman Haley Andreas was Arizona's top performer with a second-place finish individually in her Wildcat debut. She carded a two-round total of 149 (+5) and was just three strokes off the winner, Brittany Penny of Grand Canyon. She marked a 77 in the first round and improved to an even-par 72 over the final 18 holes.
Sophomore Kyndall Ardoin, in her season debut, earned an 11th-place finish and improved from 15th after the first round. She tallied scores of 80 and 77 en route a total of 157. Junior Ashley Malaska, also making her season debut, finished tied for 19th overall. Her two-round total of 164 included a first-round 80.
The event took place at the Forest Highlands Golf Course, a par-72, 6,188-yard layout.
The Wildcats will compete next at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, Sept. 25-28, in Vail, Colo.
