Softball's Jennie Finch Slams Oregon In UA's 11-1 Victory

Eugene, Ore.- Junior Jennie Finch hit a grand slam, a three run blast and a two run double to total nine RBI in Arizona's 11-1 victory over Oregon in its Pac-10 opener Friday night. The victory improves second-ranked Arizona's overall record to 37-2 for the season.

Finch, who finished up 3-for-3 on the evening, came out blasting in the top of the first with a two-out grand slam to score Leneah Manuma, Toni Mascarenas and Nicole Giordano. She would add two more runs to the Arizona tally in the third with a double to right and finished out her historic night with the three run homer in the seventh.

Senior Becky Lemke earned her 13th win of the season with a complete game, three hit performance. She struck out nine and walked only one.

Other Wildcats with impressive outings were Giordano and Mascarenas who each finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

The Wildcats will continue their Pac-10 road trip in Corvallis, Ore., where they will face Oregon State for two games on Saturday and Sunday.
