Arizona vs. Baden Sports

Post-Game Quotes

Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini: “I thought our starting lineup was okay. It started slow, but we got better.”

“Ashley (Whisonant) had a great game off the bench. She made great passes and really set up her teammates to score. She really reads the floor very well.”

“The second half was scattered. Having Polkey out hurt us for a while. Ch?© Oh and Shannon (Hobson) did a good job.”

“With the fouls, we can’t put them on the line as much as we did.”

“I’m happy we won, but I think we could do a better job defensively and do a better job on offensive execution.”

“I thought our free throws were good. We got to the line a lot, but we missed too many in the second half.”

Junior Center Shawntinice Polk: “I think we did a lot better tonight. In between the last exhibition and practice, we got a lot better. We put a lot of new stuff in, so we still have a lot to improve on. Our box-outs hurt us tonight. We have new plays that we just have to execute. We have four days until Saint Mary’s, so we have to put things together and patch them up fast.”

“I’m used to the bad calls. It happens whether you are home or away. The refs have their job to do. I can’t put myself in positions for them to call fouls.”

Junior Guard Dee-Dee Wheeler: “ I’m struggling to get back in shape. I’ve been sick. Practices have been tough. That’s what it’s like at a big-time program. Games should be easier than the practices.”

“We need to worry about the little things. We need to look at the big picture and work hard in practice. We need to make better decisions in games and become more consistent.”

“Ashley came back from her concussion and did real well. She was very solid on offense and defense. Jess did real well. We need her to be more vocal and consistent.”

“I’m going to be in foul trouble sometimes. We need people to step up like they did tonight.”

Freshman Guard Ashley Whisonant: “It felt really good. I was excited to come back after sitting out.”

“I had a lot of jitters. I was very nervous.”

“We played real well. The team unity was good. We had a lot of good passes. We played well. I was impressed.”

“I need to work on being more vocal. I don’t talk much. I need to work on my jump shot a lot, too.”
