Junior tri-captain Jennifer Klein shares her experiences on the road with the Wildcats as they prepare for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The first round of the NCAA Tournament, some would say a round less traveled for our team. But what an exciting experience. It has been so fun and we haven’t even played our game yet. It all started Wednesday when we traveled from Tucson to Connecticut. It was a long day: a drive to Phoenix, a flight to Atlanta, an hour and a half layover, a flight to Hartford and the last leg of the trip: a 45 minute drive to the UConn Campus. Upon arrival, we ate dinner and headed off to bed.
Thursday started with breakfast at 10 a.m. and then a small walk around the campus. It was fun to see how different UConn’s campus is from U of A’s. Then we had a couple of fun study sessions, one of which I spent taking an ecology test (P.S. I think I did really well!) We had lunch at my favorite place, Panera, where I got my favorite “Pick Two” ?- half a sandwich and a salad. After our second study session and some down time, we headed off to practice. The stadium is awesome. All throughout practice I could not stop picturing what the game was going to be like. After practice we headed back to the hotel for dinner. After we rented movies in our hotel room, we went to sleep.
And now it is game day! The day we have been training for and I just can’t wait, I am so excited. Well, wish us luck as we play our first game against Colgate.
