TUCSON - After day one of The Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn, the sixth-ranked Arizona Wildcat women's golf team is in sixth place after 18 holes. The three-day, three-round event is being held on the championship golf course at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort & Spa (par 72, 6,336 yards) in San Diego, Calif.
On day one, Arizona shot a 303 (+15). After shooting a 293 (+5), No. 3 UCLA is leading the team race. No. 18 UC-Davis is in second place with a 294 (+6) and No. 7 Purdue is in third place with a 295 (+7). No. 88 Guilia Molinaro of Arizona State is the individual leader after shooting a 69 (-3) in round one.
"This tournament has a great field and we look to play better tomorrow," head coach Laura Ianello said. "Kyndall (Ardoin) led the way with a solid round of 73. We hope to move up the leader board tomorrow."
Sophomore Kyndall Ardoin was the Cats' top finisher in a tie for ninth place. She carded a 73 (+1) on day one. Junior Nikki Koller was Arizona's next finisher in a tie for 26th place with a 75 (+3). No. 19 Isabelle Boineau finished in a tie for 34th place after shooting a 76 (+4). No. 75 Alejandra Llaneza shot a 79 (+7) and finished tied for 60th after day one. No. 34 Margarita Ramos was disqualified for an incorrect scorecard.
Freshman Haley Andreas competed as an individual and is in a tie for 87th-place. She shot an 85 (+13).
