TUCSON - Sophomores Andre Vidaller and Giacomo Miccini are set to finish the Arizona Wildcat men's tennis fall season at the 2011 Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in Sarasota, Fla. Play will begin on Friday, Nov. 11 and continue through Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Athletic Center of Lakewood Ranch.
"A handful of top teams in the country will be at this event," said head coach Tad Berkowitz. "The guys are excited about the opportunity and I look forward to seeing how we match up."
The tournament will consist of a 32-player singles bracket and a 16-team doubles draw. Men's and women's teams from top schools such as Duke, Notre Dame, Florida and Georgia will be competing in this year's event. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament will benefit the V Foundation.
In the ITA Mountain Regional tournament, Vidaller and Miccini teamed up for doubles play. The duo advanced to the third round of consolation play before being eliminated. In singles play at the ITA Mountain Regionals, Miccini clinched the singles title by defeating fellow Wildcat Carlos Bermudez. Vidaller advanced to the third round of singles play but was edged by Mikolaj Caruk from Montana.
Play is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Athletic Center of Lakewood Ranch.
