Arizona junior pitcher Jennie Finch was named Pacific-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week (April 9-15) for her role in Arizona's softball sweep over No. 8 Arizona State last weekend.

Finch, from La Mirada, Calif., played a big role in the Cats' two victories, capturing both wins in the circle, one as a starter and the other in relief -- both extra-inning games. Combined she struck out 15 batters and allowed no runs in 13 innings pitched.

On April 13, Finch pitched all 11 innings to grab a 3-0 win, plus slugged the game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of the 11th.

On April 14, she pitched the eighth and ninth innings for UA in a come-back 4-3 victory over the Sun Devils. She struck out three.

Finch now owns a 16-0 record with a Pac-10 best 0.35 ERA. She is also hitting .339 with 10 home runs on the season.

The Player of the Week honor is the fourth in Finch's career and the 70th all-time weekly honor for an Arizona player.

No. 2-ranked Arizona plays No. 15 Fresno State in a doubleheader at Hillenbrand Stadium at 6 p.m. Wednesday, then returns to Pac-10 play with single games against league-leader and No. 3-ranked Stanford at 7 p.m. Friday, No. 4 California at 7 p.m. Saturday and California at 1 p.m. Sunday.
