Junior earns honor after picking up his second career victory

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- University of Arizona men’s golfer Henry Liaw was named Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Month for January-February, the league announced Monday.

Liaw, a 5-foot-10 junior from Rowland Heights, Calif., was Arizona's top finisher in both events played last month, including his second career victory, Jan. 31, at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate.  In six rounds played, he posted a 68.67 stroke average.  All six rounds played were under par for the month and five were in the 60s.

He opened the month with a 67-68-69=204 (-9), Jan. 30-31, at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate, claiming individual medalist honors in a four-hole sudden death playoff.  Liaw claimed medalist honors with an eagle on that fourth playoff hole.

Liaw followed that effort with a 68-69-71=208 (-8) to tie for 18th place, Feb. 22-24, at the John Burns Intercollegiate.  It was his third top-20 finish of the season.  He has been the Wildcats' top-finisher in each of the last three team events.  On the season, Liaw leads Arizona with a 71.10 stroke average.

The Wildcats will next be in action, March 10-12, at the Las Vegas Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev.
