No. 6 / 7 Arizona vs. Arizona State

Hillenbrand Aquatic Center

1 p.m.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Closing out its dual meet schedule, Arizona swimming and diving will host Arizona State this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.  The final home meet will also mark Senior Day with announcements beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Final Career Home Dual Meet

--The meet will be head coach Frank Busch’s final home event as acting head coach as he last week accepted USA Swimming’s lead role as National Team Director and will begin that post beginning in May.  Over 22 seasons, Busch’s program has left an indelible mark on the athletics program and a lasting impression on each of his athletes. Athletic Director Greg Byrne and other administrative staff will be on hand Saturday to honor Coach Busch prior to the meet.

Territorial Cup Point Not Until Conference

--In the State Farm Territorial Cup battle, Arizona and ASU will be fighting for the point on men’s and women’s sides during its Pac-10 Conference meet and not during this weekend’s dual meet.  Last season, Arizona swept both points in route to UA’s department wide victory over the Sun Devils in the augural series.

Welcome Back

--To begin the season, Arizona swam against ASU, Kansas and UNLV in a two-day season opening meet.  The results between the rivals weren’t scored but both sides will have a pretty good feel for one another.

Rankings Holding

--In the updated TYR / CSCAA collegiate swimming poll, the Arizona men remained at No. 6 overall while the women are ranked No. 7. On the men’s side, California is the top-ranked program while the Stanford women are ranked tops as well.
