TUCSON, Ariz. -

Wildcats Host Washington Schools
Arizona (9-2,1-1) hosts its first Pac-12 matches when No. 4 Washington (9-1, 1-1) and Washington State (8-4, 0-2) come to Tucson. The Wildcats will play the Huskies on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. and the Cougars on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m.
Freshman Madi Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.) leads the team in kills with 145, kills per set with 3.82 and total attempts with 418. Senior Cursty Jackson (Los Angeles) leads the team in blocks with 44 (8 solo) and hitting percentage at .377 and senior Marketa Han­zlova (Liberec, Czech Republic) leads the team in digs with 127. As a team, Arizona is averaging a .241 hitting percentage and holding its opponents to .174.

WASHINGTON

Date: Sept. 23
Match Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Tucson, Ariz.
Arena: McKale Center
Series: Washington leads 28-25

In 2010: Arizona and Washington split. Fell to No. 7 Washington in Seattle on Oct. 22: 3-2 (20-25, 16-25, 25-20, 25-17, 10-15). Defeated No. 11 Washington in Tucson on Nov. 20: 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 25-22).

Scouting the Huskies

The Huskies are 9-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Washington’s only loss came versus USC and is coming off of a 3-0 sweep of UCLA. As a team, the Huskies are hitting .308, led by Lauren Barfield’s .378 hitting percentage (seventh-best in the Pac-12). Evan Sanders is the starting setter, recording 10.70 assists per set and Jenna Orlandini leads in digs per set with 3.90. Washington leads the country in service aces per set with 2.10 and is led by 10th-year head coach Jim McLaughlin.

In 2010: Arizona won both matches. Defeated Washington State in Pullman on Oct. 23: 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-20). Defeated Washington State in Tucson on Nov. 19: 3-1 (25-13, 19-25, 25-16, 25-23).

Scouting Washington State

The Cougars are 8-4 overall, 0-2 in conference play, with their most recent win versus Sam Houston State. WSU’s two conference losses came to UCLA and USC. As a team, the Cougars are hitting .214 and holding opponents to a .219 hitting percentage. Rachel Todorovich leads Washington State with a .253 hitting percentage, Camryn Irwin is leading in assists with 454 and Shawna Lum leads in digs with 160.The Cougars are led by first-year head coach Jen Greeny.
