USA Softball Names 25 Finalists for Collegiate Player of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY ?- Arizona seniors Kristie Fox and Caitlin Lowe are two of the 25 finalists for the 2007 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award, the Amateur Softball Association announced today.

 

Fox and Lowe have been named NFCA first-team All-Americans two and three times, respectively, during their illustrious Wildcat careers.

 

A shortstop from San Diego, Calif., Fox stands eighth on Arizona’s all-time list with 43 career home runs and seventh with 207 RBI.  This year, Fox is batting .327 with 10 homers and 40 RBI in Arizona’s 34 games.

Lowe has led off all but 11 games for Arizona since the beginning of the 2004 season, and boasts a .456 career batting average.  The Wildcat center fielder ranks in the top 10 in program history in five statistical categories including batting average, hits (311, 7th), runs (222, 8th), stolen bases (137, 2nd) and triples (10, 4th).  In 2005, Lowe was one of three finalists for the USA Softball Player of the Year Award.  This year, she is hitting .445 with 37 runs scored and 30 stolen bases.

 

The Top 25 is comprised of players representing 17 colleges and six different NCAA Division I Conferences.
