TUCSON, Ariz. - Evansville pitcher Katie Moore scattered five hits to help lead the Purple Aces to a 5-1 victory over Eastern Michigan in Friday's first game of Arizona's HIllenbrand Invitational softball tournament.

The Aces scored runs in each of the first three innings. Centerfielder Bridget Broerman drove in runs with a single in the first and a solo homer in the third. Desginated player Brooke Luker singled in a run in the second.

Lauren Allen led off the EMU sixth with a double and scored on a single by Kristen Zabalavicius to cut the lead to 3-1. The Eagles later left the bases loaded when Moore struck out Deanna Wisnieski to end the threat.

Evansville added two runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Brooke Luker and an infield error by the Eagles.
