TUCSON - The University of Arizona women’s golf team learned it was placed in the West Region for the 2009 NCAA Regional Championships just after two members of the team were named to the all-Pac-10 teams.

Sophomore Alejandra Llaneza was a 2nd-team all-Pac-10 selection after leading the Wildcats during the season with a 73.64 scoring average. Llaneza was also the 43rd-rated golfer in the GolfWeek/Sagarin individual player ratings at 72.87.

Joining her on the team was senior Amanda Wilson, who was an honorable mention selection. Making her 4th regional appearance, Wilson was a steady influence for a young Arizona team this season, averaging just under 75 strokes per round and recording 18 of her 20 scores between 70 and 77.

Arizona was one of 21 teams that will compete in the West Regional at the ASU Karsten Golf Course in Tempe. The site will be a familiar one to the Wildcats as they just competed in the PING/ASU Invitational on the same course one month ago. The Wildcats finished 7th in that event, but were just 17 shots off the overall lead in a talented field.

Joining the Wildcats in the West Region will be host Arizona State as well as fellow Pac-10 foes USC, California and Oregon. Rounding out the field will be LSU, Pepperdine, Arkansas, San Jose State, UC Irvine, San Francisco, UNLV, TCU, Texas A&M, Oregon, Long Beach State, Colorado, Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Northern Arizona and Oral Roberts.
