Women's Golf Tied for 13th Place With In-State Rival ASU at NCAA Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ?- The Arizona women’s golf team moved into a tie for 13th place with in-state rival Arizona State after three rounds of play.  The Wildcats carded their best round of the tournament, a 298 (+10) to bring their total score to 916 (+52) after 54 holes of play.  Duke held on to the lead after carding a five-over par 293 on Thursday, giving the Blue Devils a total score of 880 (+16), eight strokes ahead of Purdue.


Purdue’s Christel Boeljon remained in first place after carding a three-under 69 on Thursday.  Boeljon’s score of 210 (-6) is five strokes ahead of the closest competition, Southern Cal’s Paola Moreno.


Junior Mary Jacobs used a strong third round, which included five birdies, to move into a tie for 27th place after previously standing in a tie for 79th place.  The Godfrey, Ill., product carded a three-under par 69 during the third round to bring her total score to 226 (+10).


Sophomore Amanda Wilson is also tied for 27th place after carding a 75 (+3) on Thursday.  Fellow sophomore Adriana Zwanck is tied for 49th place with a score of 230 (+14).


Junior Alison Walshe carded her best round of the tournament on Thursday, a four-over par 76.  The Westford, Mass., native is tied for 73rd place with a score of 234 (+18).


Freshman Brittany Benvenuto is tied for 109th place with a score of 245 (+29) after 54 holes of play.


The final round of the tournament is set to begin at 8 am tomorrow morning.
