Men's Golf in Fifth at Cowboy Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona Wildcat men's golf team finished the first day of the Tenth Annual Wyoming Cowboy Classic presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon at the North Course of the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. in fifth place with a two-round score of 555 (-5). The North Course is a Par-70, 7133-yard course.

In the team race, San Diego and Kansas State are tied for first place with identical scores of 545 (-15), and Colorado State is two strokes behind at 547 (-13). The Wildcats sit three strokes behind fourth place and fellow Pac-12 Conference foe Colorado, who finished the first two rounds with a 552 (-8).

Individually, Colorado State's Mike Muertz resides in first place with a score of 128 (-12), followed by Ben Juffer of Kansas State and Beau Schoolcraft of Colorado, who are tied for second place after carding scores of 131 (-9). Nevada's Kevin Lucas and Wichita State's Rafael Becker sit in a tie for fourth with scores of 133 (-7).

For the Wildcats, freshman Tucker Wadkins, one of four to finish the day under par, carded a 137 (-3) for a tie for 14th place. Juniors Juan Pablo Hernandez and Trent Redfern, and freshman Brenden Redfern, who is competing as an individual, all finished in a tie for 29th place with eight others with scores of 139 (-1).

The final round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic will begin tomorrow, April 10, with a 7:30 a.m. PT shotgun start.
