Arizona Women's Tennis Heads to Pac-10 Indoor Championships

Pac-10 Indoor Championships: The Arizona women's tennis team is set to compete at the Pac-10 Indoor Championships beginning Friday in Seattle, Wash. The Championships will be held at the Nordstrom Center on the University of Washington campus. Singles competition will begin Friday and continue Saturday. Doubles play will begin on Saturday. Championship rounds for singles, doubles, and consolation will be held Sunday.

The Competition: No. 26 Arizona will compete with top-ranked teams, including No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 California, No. 6 Southern California, No. 7 Washington, No. 11 UCLA, and No. 19 Arizona State.

Making the Trip: Traveling for Arizona this week will be senior Debbie Larocque, juniors Dianne Hollands, Maja Mlakar and Kelly Perry, sophomores Iza Ferreira and Kelly Duncan, and freshman Jessie Rochefort. The only Wildcat not to compete will be freshman Kasia Jakowlew.

 
 

Western Region Rankings: Junior Dianne Hollands will begin 2004 competition as the No. 3 ranked player in the Western Region. Junior Maja Mlakar is ranked No. 4. Senior Debbie Larocque earned a regional ranking of No. 20. The doubles team of Mlakar and Hollands is ranked No. 2, while the team of Larocque and freshman Kasia Jakowlew is ranked No. 12.

National Rankings: Junior Dianne Hollands will open the year with a rank of No. 28. Junior Maja Mlakar earned a ranking of No. 29. The team of Hollands and Mlakar received a ranking of 19.

Fall Action: With a record of 12-4, junior Dianne Hollands came out of Fall tournament play with best overall record for the team. The doubles team of Hollands and junior Maja Mlakar earned the best double s record of 2-0 for the team.
