Men?s Golf Faces Another Busy Week

For the second time this season, both the varsity and junior varsity will be in action

 

TUCSON, Ariz. + The University of Arizona men’s golf team will be busy next week as both the varsity and junior varsity teams will be in action.

 

The UA varsity returns to action, Oct. 31-Nov. 1, at the CordeValle Collegiate in San Martin, Calif.  Hosted by UCLA, the inaugural event will be held at CordeValle Country Club, a par-72, 7,169-yard layout.  Tee times are to be announced with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and 18 for Tuesday.  Participating teams include Arizona, Arkansas, Augusta State, California, Central Florida, North Carolina, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Pepperdine, Stanford, Texas, USC, Virginia, Washington and UCLA.

 

The probable Wildcat lineup includes Henry Liaw, Josh Esler, Travis Esway, Trey Donton and Nicholas Park.

The Wildcat junior varsity will be in action in Las Cruces, N.M., at the Herb Wimberley Intercollegiate.  The 17-team event, which is hosted by New Mexico State, is also scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the NMSU Golf Club, a par-72, 7,017-yard layout.  A 7:30 a.m. MDT shotgun start will be used for Monday’s 36 scheduled holes and Tuesday’s 18 holes.

 

The probable Wildcat JV lineup includes Brian Prouty, Nathan Tyler, Mark Lamb, Ben Marsh and Ben Fox.  Brett Carter will compete in the event as an individual.

These two tournaments will be Arizona’s last stroke play team events of the fall.  Following these, Arizona’s remaining events in November include the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship, Nov. 11-13, in Orlando, Fla., and the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic, an invitation-only event for individuals, Nov. 21-22, in El Paso, Texas.
