Hey Arizona Fans!

This is Dee-Dee Wheeler ready to share our season highlights with you! My personal highlight was the opportunity I got to play at home in Chicago in front of hundreds of my family, friends and hometown fans. Coach Bonvicini always makes a point to get back to each one of her player's hometowns to play a game during the course of their four year career. I know the team is going to travel all the way to Alaska next year to for Natalie Jones to play in front of her hometown fans!  Back to our trip in Chicago, the arena was packed with so many familiar faces and the part that I found the most special was all of the Arizona fans wore shirts that displayed my face! What a surprise! We ended up winning the game as well which made a great transition into our holiday break.

After the Chicago trip, we traveled to Seattle for our first Pac-10 battle of the year. We played the University of Washington and won a tight one! This was one of the most challenging trips I have ever been on because of travel complications in Seattle and Spokane and even more painful to the team was the fact that two of our starters got injured during the UW game (Polkey and Jess Arnold who are both back playing) and were unable to play in the Washington State game. Nevertheless, our team just wouldn’t quit and we started off the Pac-10 with two wins and let me tell you, it never felt so good to get back to Tucson and see the McKale center!

We have already had some tough situations to overcome this year in attempt to defend our Pac-10 Championship. Fortunately for us, after two wins this last weekend against Oregon and Oregon State, we are right back where we need to be. The Pac-10 is such a tough conference that we have to be prepared to play our best every night. Currently, we now stand at 6-3 at the end of the first round of conference play, a record we are going to improve on. We ended last season with a 14-4 conference record and we still plan on duplicating that record again!

This is all for now, please continue to support us as we fight and scratch our way to another Pac-10 ring. Please make an effort to come out to each and every home game to support our efforts! This is Dee-Dee Wheeler checking out! Go Cats!
