Game 1:  Richmond 69, Butler 68

 

Richmond guard Courtney Nelson scored only 4 points, but his two biggest came on a driving layup with 3 seconds remaining in the game to give Richmond the victory. Forward Jermaine Bucknor led Richmond with 20 points and a key three-pointer with 38 seconds remaining. Butler center Jamie Smalligan led the Bulldogs with 20 points.
