TUCSON -- Backed by a heated offensive effort on a cool and blustery evening, and a 9 RBI output from Brittany Lastrapes, the Arizona Wildcats scored a 6-0 win over New Mexico, and a 22-1 five-inning victory over Central Arizona in Games 7 and 8 of the Arizona Fall Classic on Saturday night.
New Mexico vs. Arizona
Arizona scored four first-inning runs, including a Brittany Lastrapes two-run jack, to propel the Wildcats past the Lobos, 6-0.
After a Lauren Schutzler single started off Arizona's at-bats, Lastrapes smoked one to left center to give the Cats an early lead. Sam Banister followed suit with an RBI double, and a sacrifice fly by Laine Roth gave the Cats a four-spot headed into the second.
Central Arizona vs. Arizona
A 13-run third inning was more than enough scoring to give the Cats a runaway 22-1 victory in five innings.
The Cats scattered 19 hits off of Central pitching.
Arizona plated four in the first for the second straight game, but scored 13 runs off of 10 hits and three Central errors in the third inning.
Lastrapes hit a grand slam in the next inning as Arizona run-ruled their second opponent of the tournament.
Lindsey Sisk pitched all five innings of the victory.
Up Next: Arizona will host its final games of Fall Ball, at 3 p.m. against Cypress, and at 5 p.m. against Pima CC.
