Tucson , Ariz. ?C The Arizona volleyball team earned its first Pac-10 win of the season with a sweep over visiting Oregon State on Thursday night in McKale Center.? Game scores were 31-29, 30-26 and 30-25.? With the win, the Wildcats improve to 11-4, 1-2 Pac-10, while the Beavers drop to 8-7, 1-2 Pac-10.

ˇ?I was pleased with certain parts of our game, but we broke down in other areas,ˇ± head coach Dave Rubio said.? ˇ?Our coverage was excellent, our ability to have someone come in and set the ball, and our defensive systems were all very good.ˇ±

As a team, Arizona hit .289 (51-16-121) from the floor, tallying seven blocks and five service aces.? Oregon State hit .211 (50-22-133) on the night, and finished with eight blocks and six service aces.

Individually for the Wildcats, junior Randy Goodenough led the way with 19 kills on .350 hitting (19-5-40) to go with eight digs.? Freshman Tiffany Owens added 12 kills on .423 hitting (12-1-26) and seven digs, and sophomore Alanna Resch finished with a game-high 15 digs.? Freshman Paige Weber tallied 41 assists, four kills, five digs and three blocks.

Sophomores Lexie Rathgeber and Rachel Rourke led Oregon State with 14 kills apiece.

Game one started out in the favor of the Beavers, as OSU took a 14-8 lead over Arizona at the start.? The Wildcats then responded with an 11-4 scoring run to take the lead at 19-18, and stretched that advantage out to 22-20.? Arizona went up 28-24 on a Beaver attacking error, but OSU rallied to tie the game at 29-29.? The Wildcats finished things down the stretch on another OSU attack error and a kill by Owens to win 31-29.? Arizona hit .340 (23-6-50) in the first game, while Oregon State posted a .312 (19-4-48) mark.

In game two, Arizona took an early 9-6 lead, but allowed the Beavers to tie things up at 10-10.? The game was tied up at 15-15, but Arizona squeezed out a 23-19 lead.? That advantage proved to be enough, as Arizona kept enough distance down the stretch for a 30-26 win.? Arizona hit .256 (16-5-43) in the game, holding Oregon State to a .178 (15-7-45) hitting percentage.

The Wildcats started game three out hot, racing out to a 10-5 advantage.? UA kept that distance midway and was up 23-18.? Oregon State fought to cut the deficit to 25-23, but Arizona put it away at the end to win 30-25 and complete the sweep on .250 (12-5-28) hitting.

Arizona will next host No.-21 ranked Oregon tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in McKale Center.
