EUGENE, Ore.- The No. 30 Arizona Wildcats (10-5) ended their losing streak Friday afternoon, after defeating the No. 24 Oregon Ducks (9-3) 4-3, at the Student Tennis Center. This is the first Pac-10 win for the Wildcats (1-4). Arizona won two of three doubles matches and three of six singles matches.

"We are very happy with this win as Oregon got the upper hand the last few years," head coach Vicky Maes said. "Doing it at Oregon made it even sweeter. The girls came out with great effort and spirit. We were disappointed after our loss to Penn but I am proud with the way the team rebounded."

In doubles play, freshman Danielle Steinberg and sophomore Camelia Todorova defeated Claudia Hirt and Carmen Seremeta, 8-6, in the No. 2 position. On court three, juniors Kasia Jakowlew and Jessie Rochefort put the Wildcats first point on the board after defeating Oregon’s Anna Leksinska and Anna Powaska, 9-8, in the No. 3 slot. In first position,  senior Stephanie Balzert and sophomore Juliette Mavroleon fell in a tie-breaker against Dominika Dieskova and Ceci Olivos, 8-7.

In singles play, Jakowlew fell on court four to Oregon’s Olivos, 6-4, 6-2. In position six Todorova was defeated by Monica Hoz de Vila, 6-2, 6-4. On court five, the Wildcats looked to pick up their third point, as Razloznik won the second set 6-1, over Leksinska . After pushing it to a third set, Razloznik, won 6-3. Arizona took the victory after Mavroleon won both her second and third sets, 6-0, 6-3.
