Arizona Women?s Golf Finishes Fourth at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn., -  The Arizona women’s golf team finished fourth at the Mason Rudolph Championship on Sunday, with a final total of 875 (+11).


The Wildcats carded a one-under-par 287 in the final round of the tournament to secure a top-five finish in the 15-team field.  Arizona’s final round total was the tournament low on Sunday.  Duke won the tournament at 863 (-1), three strokes ahead of Georgia.


Junior Alison Walshe completed the tournament with a five-under-par 67 in the final round to claim individual medalist honors.  Walshe totaled a 210 (-6) through 54 holes, giving the Westford, Mass., native a two-stroke victory.  It was her first tournament appearance at Arizona.


“For Alison to come out and win her first tournament as a Wildcat is big time,” head coach Greg Allen said, “She has joined many other Wildcats that have won tournaments and for her to win the first tournament of the season is great.”


Sophomore Adriana Zwanck finished the tournament tied for eighth place after carding an even-par 71 in the final round.  Zwanck completed the tournament with an even-par 216.


Junior Mary Jacobs tied for 16th place after totaling a three-over-par 219.  Jacobs shot a 219 (+3) on Sunday to move up three spots on the leader board.


Senior Rachel Gavin carded a four-over-par 76 and tied for 68th place after the final round of the tournament.  The Tucson, Ariz., product finished with a 237 (+21) after 54 holes.


Sophomore Amanda Wilson placed in a tie for 71st with a total of 238 (+22).  Wilson shot an 84 (+12) in the final round.


The UA women will next be in action, Oct. 9-11, at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
