Washington State (12-6-2, 6-3-1 Pac-12) out shot the Wildcats 17-10 and the Cougars took a narrow advantage in on-goal attempts at 6-5.
For the second consecutive match, Arizona took the advantage on corner kicks, leading the Cougars 4-3.
Senior goalie Ashley Jett recorded three saves on the day, along with two goals against. Both Cougar goals were hit early in the first half, with Tiara Pittman's coming in the 22nd minute and Brandi Vega's late in the 23rd.
"I like how we responded in the second half," said head coach Lisa Oyen. "We came out stronger, and made more opportunities to get to the net. It's difficult to rebound after the goals Washington State scored, but I liked what I saw, and now all we have is to focus on getting ready for our next match against Arizona State."
Up next, Arizona will host Pac-12 Conference rival Arizona State in the squad's final match of the season on Friday, November 4 at 7 p.m. MST on Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium.
