Tucson, Ariz. ?- University of Arizona women’s basketball coach Joan Bonvicini announced Thursday that Tasha Dickey of Brighton HS in Salt Lake City has signed a National Letter-of-Intent during the early signing period to attend school and play basketball.  Dickey, a 5-foot-10 guard, will report to Arizona in the fall of 2007.

“We are very pleased to have Tasha Dickey sign with our program,” Bonvicini said.  “She is someone who is very familiar with our program and the university.  Tasha is an outstanding athlete, and a versatile player who will fit our style of play.  I am proud to have her as a member of our Wildcat family.”

Last season as a junior, Dickey averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds a game for the Bengals.

Dickey comes from a family of Arizona Wildcats.  Her father, Charlie Dickey, was a former football player (1983-84) and coach (1992-2003) at Arizona, and her mother, the former Lisa Bradshaw, played women’s basketball at Arizona from 1983-85.

Dickey’s sister Jazmin is currently a freshman sprinter at Utah, where her father Charlie is the offensive line coach.

Arizona has one open scholarship to be filled during the spring signing period.  The Wildcats open the 2006-07 season on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in McKale Center against Nicholls State.
