INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Regional Selections for the 2012 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regional Championships were made today. Regional's were assigned for the top 18 ranked teams based upon RQS scores, and places 19-36 were made based upon geographic proximity.
The Arizona Women's Gymnastics team earned a national ranking of No. 16 after the Pac-12 Championships. This has enabled the team be selected as the third seed to compete in the Washington hosted Seattle Regional Meet. Arizona will have some tough competition this year, as the teams selected for this regional include:
- Central Michigan
The meet will take place Saturday, April 7 at 4 p.m. local time.
Other regional sites include the Auburn Regional, Champaign Regional, Fayetteville Regional, Raleigh Regional, and Salt Lake City Regional.
The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Duluth, Ga., April 20-22, hosted by the Gwinnett Center and Georgia Tech.
In addition, the event winners at each regional site will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
