University of Arizona linebacker Paul Vassallo has been named Academic All-District 8 by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The senior, UA's leading tackler in 2010 after transferring from a junior college in December 2009, carries a 3.48 grade point average in a public health curriculum.
Members of the All-District teams are eligible for voting in CoSDIA Academic All-America tabulating later this month.
Vassallo is joined on the District 8 list by three other state of Arizona players, offensive lineman Ben Bachelier and defensive lineman Dan Pela of Northern Arizona, and ASU receiver Aaron Pflugrad.
Other Pac-12 honorees include QB Andrew Luck and TE Coby Fleener of Stanford, OL Carson York of Oregon, punter Sean Sellwood of Utah, kicker Giorgio Tavecchio and DL Ernest Owusu of Cal, DB Kyle McCartney and WR Jared Karstetter of WSU, and LB Cameron Collins of OSU.
UA kicker John Bonano, who earned the job a few weeks into the season, also was nominated for the honor, which requires a cumulative GPA above 3.20.
