TUCSON, Ariz. -
University of Arizona freshman Chloe Mathis (La Jolla, Calif.) has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, the Pac-12 announced Monday.
Mathis led the Wildcats to their first Pac-12 win of the season, posting 57 assists against Oregon State, the most assists in four sets for any Pac-12 player this year. Under her direction, Arizona hit .280 in the match and she also contributed 11 digs. In the loss to then-No.16 Oregon, Mathis had 16 assists and six digs.
This marks Mathis’ first Freshman of the Week honor and first Pac-12 honor for any Arizona player this season.
Mathis joined Oregon’s Alaina Bergsman and California’s Robin Rostratter, who won offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.
