NCAA Fullerton Regional (June 3-6): Finished the four-game postseason 2 for 8 (.250) with two RBI and a stolen base ... at #22 Stanford (May 20-22): Batted .333 (3 for 9) with three runs scored, a double and four RBI in three games ... at #24 Arizona State (May 14-16): Finished the conference series 4 for 8 (.500) with a double, four runs scored and three RBI ... Utah Valley State (May 6-8): Started two of three games and went 1 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored ... #21 USC (April 29-May 1): Started one game and went 1 for 5 with a triple, RBI and a run scored ... at Sac State (April 23): Went 1 for 3 with two RBI  and hit his lone home run of the season ... #15 Oregon State (April 15-17): Started two games and finished the series 2 for 7 (.286) with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base ... at Washington State (April 8-10): Played in three games and made two starts. Led all players with a .714 batting average (5 for 7) in the series. Scored five runs and finished with a double and a triple ... Washington (March 24-26): Hit a team-best .556 (5 for 9) and finished with two RBi and a run scored ... UNLV (March 15-16): Went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored in two games.

College World Series (June 18-22): Appeared in two games, making one start ... NCAA South Bend Regional (June 4-6): Garnered all-regional honors after batting .333 (3 for 9) with a RBI and two runs scored ... Hit his first HR since April 28, 2003 in the regional opener against UC Irvine ... #19 Arizona State (May21-23): Went over the centerfield wall to rob ASU’s Jeff Larish of a home run in Sunday’s 13-7 win ... #2/#1 Stanford (May 15-17): Went 5 for 11 (.455) with two doubles, five RBI and two runs scored in two starts ... Finished Sunday’s 19-18 win 4 for 5 with four RBI, two doubles and two runs scored ...  at Cal (April 30-May2): Made three starts in the outfield, went 2 for 9 (.222) with two runs scored ... UT-Pan Am (April 16-18): Went 2 for 2 at the plate in pair of pinch hitting appearances ... Washington State (March 26-28): Hit .444 (4 for 9) with three walks, a double, triple, RBI and three runs scored in three starts ... Made game-saving diving catch with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth in Friday’s 8-7 win ... Round Rock Classic (Mar. 11-13): Made just one start in the outfield, but went 2 for 4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored ... at #15 Baylor (Feb. 27-28): Hit .200 (1 for 5) with one run scored ... UC Irvine (Feb. 20-22): Finished the series 4 for 14 with a double, RBI and two runs scored ... #8 Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 13-15): Went just 2 for 12 (.167), but still drove in four runs and scored twice ... UC Riverside (Feb. 6-8): Played in two games, making one start ... Led all players with an .800 average (4 for 5) for the weekend ... Picked up a clutch 2-run triple in his first at bat of the season in Saturday’s come-from-behind 9-8 win ... Went 3 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored in Sunday’s 10-7 win.

NCAA Fullerton Regional (May 30-31): Tallied three walks and scored two runs in two games in the postseason ... Oregon State (May17-19): Finished 3 for 10 (.300) with a RBI and four runs scored in three starts ... Cal (May 2-4): Managed just two hits in three starts, but still scored a team-high five runs in the series ... at Sac State (April 28): Hit a pair of home runs and a double in going 3 for 4 in the 21-13 win. Finished with six RBIs and three runs scored ... at #4 Stanford (April 25-27): Hit .250 (3 for 12) with three RBIs and a run scored ... Went 3 for 4 with all three RBIs in Arizona’s series clinching win on Sunday ... at Washington State (April 17-19): Finished 2 for 9 (.222) with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored ... Washington (April 11-13): Led Arizona with a team-high .444 average (4 for 9) with two doubles, a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored in three starts at DH ... Went 3 for 3 with three RBIs in Arizona’s 13-4 win on Saturday ... Miami (OH) (April 4-6): Went 5 for 10 with five RBIs, two walks and a run scored in three games ... Drove home the game-winning run on a ninth inning single in Arizona’s 11-10 win on Friday. Entered the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and finished 2 for 2 with three RBIs ... at UCLA (Mar 28-30): Missed second straight series with a sore back ... USC (Mar. 21-23): Missed the series with a sore back ... Wagner (Mar. 13-15): Went 2 for 6 (.333) in two games ... Hit his second home run of the season in Arizona’s 13-1 series finale victory ...  at #9 Texas (Mar. 7-9): Went 1 for 4 with a walk and was hit by a pitch in two starts ... #24 Texas A&M (Feb. 28- Mar. 2): Made first career start in the outfield in Sunday’s 17-1 win ... Minnesota (Feb. 21-23): Went 4 for 9 (.444) with a pair of doubles in two starts against the Gophers ... Went 2 for 2 in stolen bases ... At UC Irvine (Feb. 14-16): Hit .333 (3 for 9) in two starts ... Hit two doubles in Arizona’s series sweeping 7-1 win on Feb. 17 ...  #10 Baylor (Feb. 7-9): Went 1 for 5 in his lone start of the series ... Missed the first two games against the Bears due to the flu ... BYU (Jan. 30-Feb. 1): Went 4 for 5 (.800), including two triples, with three RBIs and three runs scored in first career start. His 11 totals bases in the game were the sixth-most in a single contest in school history.

 

High School

Graduated from Skyline High School in Sammamish, Wash., where he earned four letters for coach Tracy Krase ... All-state his senior year ... Was a King County 3A all-star his senior season ... Was player of the year for his high school in 2001 and 2002 ... Was named first team All-KingCo Conference three times and honorable mention once ... Skyline went to state two of the four years he played and to regionals once.

 

Summer Leagues

Participated at the 2001 Area Code Games ... His American Legion team went to regionals in 2002 and 2001.

Full name: Derek Alan Decater ... Born 9/10/83 in Sacramento, Calif. ... Son of Cathy and Jim Decater ... Has two brothers, Kyle and Brad, both of whom also play baseball ... Kyle also plays premier soccer ... Derek has undergone two shoulder surgeries.
