WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The University of Arizona men’s swimming and diving team had five team members earn All-Academic honors from the Pac-10 Conference, announced today by Commissioner Larry Scott.

Jack Brown, Cory Chitwood, Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or and Austen Thompson earned First-Team honors while A.J. Tipton picked up Second-Team kudos.

Impressively, all five Wildcats who earned All-Academic awards also were All-Americans in 2010. Chitwood won the NCAA Championship in the 200 backstroke, Brown placed fourth overall in the 400 I.M., Shapira Bar-Or was on the third-place-finishing 800 free relay team, Thompson was ninth overall in the 400 I.M. and Tipton swam on the 400 Medley Relay team which placed sixth overall.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
