Arizona Women?s Golfers Outlast Oklahoma State for Third

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. ?- The Arizona women’s golf team finished in third place after defeating Oklahoma State, 3-2-0 in the last round of the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla., Tuesday.

 

 Individually against the Cowgirls, junior Cassandra Kirkland was victorious in the round by the score of 2 and 1 to defeat Mallorie Underwood. Junior Whitney Welch also grabbed a win for the Wildcats, by defeating Candie Herrera 2 up. Junior Lani Elston, also successful against Oklahoma State, defeated Ali Griffin 6 and 4. Karin Sjodin defeated senior Miriam Kraschinski 2 and 1. Oklahoma State’s Annie Thurman defeated senior Mar Garcia in a 4 and 3 match. 

 

With the completion of this tournament the Wildcats have concluded their fall season. Arizona will take the course next in February at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
