The following is a glimpse into the on the field and off the field lives of the Wildcat defenders and goalkeepers.

 

#24 Becky Barry, freshman

Over the summer, I: went to California and I trained.

This season I want the team to: work together and accomplish our goals together.

My favorite part of being on the team is: being a part of something great and the experience that goes with it.

I chose my number because: one of my good friends who passed away was #24.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: scrimmage, horse shoes and flying changes.

I chose the U of A because: I have always grown up a Wildcat fan and now I have the opportunity to be one.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: when I collided with my own goalkeeper and split my chin and her head open.

I love it when: I eat ice cream.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my parents.

My personality off the field is: quiet, until you get to know me.

I’d like an autograph from: Ronaldinho or David Beckham.

My personal goals for the season are: to improve.

I am thankful for: my family.

I am motivated by: my desire and my teammates.

One place I want to visit is: Africa.

 

#2 Claire Bodiya, junior

Over the summer, I: played with Ajax America in Los Angeles in the WPSL League and we traveled to Korea and took second place in the tournament. We also took third in the nation.

This season I want the team to: win a national championship and set new records.

My favorite part of being on the team is: the girls. I absolutely love them because they are sisters to me and we are a tight family.

I chose my number because: I’ve been #1 or #2 all my life.

I chose the U of A because: of the great academics and the chance to make the program better.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: winning the Pac-10 and playing Portland because they are such a great team and it was a great environment.

My favorite soccer player is: Zizou (Zinedine Zidane) and Lilian Thuram.

I love it when: our team is high energy and really shows its personality.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): Sally Thurner because she is a hard worker and a great person.

My personality off the field is: fun, hardworking and caring.

I’d like an autograph from: Zizou, Pel?© and Lilian Thuram.

The place I would most like to live is: wherever my parents and brother are.

My personal goals for the season are: receive a 3.0, play every game and be a role model.

I am motivated by: hard work, passion and determination.

One place I want to visit is: Italy to play professionally.

 

#10 Brianna Caceres, sophomore

Over the summer, I: played soccer in a regional tournament in Idaho, went to Colorado and hung out with friends and family.

This season I want the team to: be Pac-10 champs and go further than the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament.

My favorite part of being on the team is: having sisters that I never had.

I chose my number because: my birthday is on March 10 and because Pel?© wore the number 10.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: scrimmage.

I chose the U of A because: it seemed like the athletic department was one big family and I wanted to be a part of that.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: saving a game winning goal.

I love it when: when we play chitty chitty bang bang.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my brother because he’s there for me no matter what.

My personality off the field is: outgoing, comical and loving.

I’d like an autograph from: Michelle Akers.

The place I would most like to live is: Southern California because it’s the best place to be!

My personal goals for the season are: to be a great captain for my teammates.

I am thankful for: being alive and given the talent to play sports.

One place I want to visit is: Pluto.

 

#11 Kaity Heath, junior

Over the summer, I: stayed in Tucson and took summer school.

This season I want the team to: win another Pac-10 championship and win a national championship.

My favorite part of being on the team is: being around everyone I love so much.

I chose my number because: I was born on Nov. 11th.

I chose the U of A because: it was close to home, I loved the girls on the team and the coaches.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: when we made it to the Sweet 16.

My favorite soccer player is: Harold Warren.

I love it when: we work as a team to win a game.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my daddy.

My personality off the field is: very outgoing and funny.

I’d like an autograph from: David Beckham.

The place I would most like to live is: Arizona.

I am thankful for: my family.

I am motivated by: my teammates, coaches and myself.

One place I want to visit is: Australia.

 

#12 Savanah Levake, sophomore

Over the summer, I: worked out, chilled with friends and stayed with my parents.

This season I want the team to: have fun, play hard, set goals and work towards achieving those goals.

My favorite part of being on the team is: being part of something that commands you to work hard and teaches you discipline in all aspects of life.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: one touch juggling.

I chose the U of A because: of the girls. The team had such a comfortable aura. Immediately upon coming on my visit, I knew I wanted to go to the U of A.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: my collision with McCall (Smith) in one of our games.

My favorite soccer player is: John Terry because I really enjoy watching him play.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my mom and dad because they have relentless support for me in everything I do.

My personality off the field is: relaxed, calm, easy going and happy.

I’d like an autograph from: David Beckham.

The place I would most like to live is: Hawaii.

My personal goals for the season are: become a player who contributes to the team by perfecting my strengths and hiding my weaknesses.

I am thankful for: my family.

I am motivated by: the will to never quit anything you start and if you going to do it, do it 100%.

One place I want to visit is: my home when we are in season because I miss my puppies and my parents of course.

 

#0 Chelsea McIntyre, sophomore

Over the summer, I: hung out at the beach, hung out with my sisters and trained for the season.

This season I want the team to: win another Pac-10 championship and make it further in the NCAA tournament.

My favorite part of being on the team is: the sisterhood we have with one another.

I chose my number because: I used to be 10 in club and #1 in high school so I thought I would do the other half of #10 which was #0.

I chose the U of A because: my dream was always to play in the Pac-10 and the coaches were giving me an opportunity to play.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: when I got my first start against UCLA and making my first big save.

My favorite soccer player is: Ronaldinho.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my mom.

My personality off the field is: funny, loud and caring.

I’d like an autograph from: Lance Armstrong.

The place I would most like to live is: where I grew up, Walnut Creek.

My personal goals for the season are: hold as many shut outs as possible.

I am thankful for: my mom and for everything she has done for me.

I am motivated by: my teammates.

One place I want to visit is: Fiji.

 

#25 Jenna Merideth, freshman

Over the summer, I: traveled across Europe with my friends and played soccer.

This season I want the team to: take the NCAA title and for us to always do our personal best.

My favorite part of being on the team is: learning new things.

I chose my number because: I am a freshman and I didn’t have very many options and because it is the best number.

I chose the U of A because: because it is close to home.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: winning the 2006 state title with my high school team.

My favorite soccer player is: Ronaldinho.

I love it when: I do my personal best and I am playing well.

My personality off the field is: usually really outgoing.

I’d like an autograph from: my sister.

The place I would most like to live is: Tucson, for right now.

My personal goals for the season are: to help the team by always working hard.

I am thankful for: my family, friends and what they have given me so far.

I am motivated by: myself, my family and my friends.

One place I want to visit is: Spain.

 

#16 Erika Olson, sophomore

Over the summer, I: played soccer and hung out with friends and family.

This season I want the team to: become one and play as a unit because we would be unstoppable.

My favorite part of being on the team is: the running and the girls who have become like family.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: “our ball”, possession vs. scoring.

I chose the U of A because: I wanted a new experience in a new environment to push myself.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: yet to come...

My favorite soccer player is: Fabio Cannavaro.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): McCall Smith.

My personality off the field is: full of amazingness.

I’d like an autograph from: no one because I would rather have a conversation.

The place I would most like to live is: Europe and then back to Denver.

My personal goals for the season are: reach and further my potential.

I am thankful for: life, love, happiness, soccer and music.

I am motivated by: myself.

One place I want to visit is: the world.

 

#13 Samantha Tiampo, freshman

Over the summer, I: mostly worked out on my own, took a vacation to Hawaii and tried to spend as much time with my friends and family as possible.

This season I want the team to: really learn to play with and for one another and to learn to play as a unit.

I chose my number because: I have been #13 since I was 12 and it stuck with me.

I chose the U of A because: I really like the program and how thing were run. I like the people and the atmosphere.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: when my club team won the national championship.

My favorite soccer player is: Ashley Cole.

I love it when: I get a clean side tackle off in the game.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my sister and my dad because they’re incredibly strong people.

My personality off the field is: super laid back, mellow and kind of quiet.

I’d like an autograph from: Thierry Henry.

The place I would most like to live is: Southern California.

My personal goals for the season are: learn as much as possible.

I am thankful for: my health, my family’s support and this opportunity.

I am motivated by: my desire to prove people wrong.

One place I want to visit is: Venice, Italy.

 

#1 Devon Wharf, sophomore

Over the summer, I: trained for the preseason and spent a lot of time with family and friends.

This season I want the team to: achieve something we have never before achieved.

My favorite part of being on the team is: being a family and having 23 sisters I can count on.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: playing flying changes.

I chose the U of A because: of the atmosphere and the student-athlete support.

My favorite soccer player is: Brianna Scurry.

I love it when: I don’t think I can make a save and I end up saving it.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my mom and dad.

My personality off the field is: crazy and fun.

I’d like an autograph from: Lance Armstrong.

The place I would most like to live is: California or Australia.

My personal goals for the season are: to push myself and get better everyday.

I am thankful for: the opportunity to compete at this level.

I am motivated by: myself and fear of failure.

One place I want to visit is: Aberdeen, Scotland.
