TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 34 Arizona women's tennis won their second consecutive Pac-10 match on Saturday, edging No. 28 Washington State, 4-3. The victory improved Arizona's record to 10-8 with a 3-5 mark in the Pac-10.
The Wildcats recorded singles victories from sophomores Debbie Larocque and Marie-Pier Pouliot, along with freshman Dianne Hollands. No. 87 Larocque upset WSU's No. 78 Stacy McKenna, 6-2, 6-3. Hollands topped WSU's Orsi Sallai in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3 while Pouliot tripped up WSU's Nora Gaal, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles, the Wildcats won two of three matches to earn the doubles point. Leading the way was the No. 13 ranked team of Larocque and freshman Maja Mlakar. They beat WSU's No. 15 duo of Erica Perkins and McKenna, 8-5. Senior Brooke Taylor teamed with Hollands to defeat WSU's Gaal and Zsofi Fodor, 8-2.
The Wildcats next match is against No. 4 Stanford on Friday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m. in Palo Alto, Calif.
